Maltipoos will grow to about eight to fourteen inches tall when they’re mature. An adult Maltipoo should weigh in and around twenty pounds. While most Maltipoos take about eight to ten months to reach their full growth capacity, this is not a universal growth pattern.

Some might take longer to reach their full size. 3-month-old Maltipoo should be in and around three to five pounds. Well, the Maltipoo weight at 3 months will be around 1.5 to 2.5 pounds for minimum weight and for maximum weight, they can be around 4 pounds. Keep in mind, the dog’s age at different speeds mostly depends on the size of the dog and it’s really true for Maltipoos.

Maltipoos are puppies until they reach one year old and they will then present very puppy-like behaviour until two years old.

Maltipoo’s Full Grown Size, Weight And Age

  • Maltipoo full grown size: 8-15 months/ 8-14 inches height
  • Maltipoo full grown height: 5 – 20 lbs
  • Maltipoo full grown age: consider adult at around 1 year old

Even though all Maltipoos will usually reach their maximum size of about fourteen inches and weigh around twenty pounds, the road to reach this will vary. Every puppy will undergo a unique growing experience. Miniature Maltipoos should weigh around ten to twenty-five pounds when they are fully grown. They are not only the heaviest of the Maltipoos but the tallest as well. When they’re adults, they measure about twelve to fifteen inches tall.

Your Maltipoo should stop growing in the 8 to 10 month range if they are the first and second generation dogs of the standard size for their breed & the stud or draft is the toy Poodle. However, your Maltipoo may grow to about 15 months if the father or mother is a mini poodle. You might also expect an 8 week old Maltipoo to weigh around 1.5 to 3 pounds, but again the weight of a Maltipoo at that age depends on the size and type of mom and dad. By the time he grows up, Maltipoo is usually never more than 20 pounds.

The AKC groups purebreds by weight as follows:

  • Toy – Most are 3 to 10 lbs, but  some are a bit larger at 18 lbs.
  • Small – There is crossover with those in the toy group but most are between 10 and 25 lbs.
  • Medium – Lots of breeds are in this group and are generally between 20 and 40 lbs.
  • Large – This refers to dogs that are between 55 and 85 lbs.
  • Giant – This is reserved for massive dogs that are close to or over 100 lbs. and some are upward of 200 lbs.

Our survey had a comment box along with the weight question so that those that entered a weight of ‘over 17 lbs.’ could enter it. The highest weight entered was 25 lbs. (11.34 kg). Keeping the crossover weights in mind of toy breeds (3 to 18 lbs.) and small breeds (10 to 25 lbs.), both groups together are anywhere from 3 to 25 pounds, and that is the size of every Maltipoo dog that we received weight stats for.

Maltipoos generally are 7 to 13 lbs. (3.1 to 5.8 kg), though the range is from 3 to 25 lbs. (1.36 to 11.3 kg)

It is only natural to want to compare the Maltipoo’s expected size, generally within the 7 to 13 lb. range (3.1 to 5.8 kg), with the breeds that are responsible for this incredible cross-breed.

The Maltese is one of the smallest toy breeds; the AKC calls out for a dog that is ‘under 7 pounds’ (3.2 kg) which is exceptionally tiny. This said, pet Maltese (those not expected to compete in conformation show rings) are commonly a bit larger in the 8 to 12 pound range (3.6 to 5 kg). This pet weight is very close to what one can expect with the majority of Maltipoos.

Weight of the puppy. There is definitely some wiggle room, but knowing how much a puppy weighs at certain ages can be a guide to see how small or large they will be as adults.

  • A long-held guideline for toy and small breeds is to take the weight at the age of 6 weeks and multiple this by four. For example, if a Maltipoo weighs 2 pounds at the 6-week mark, their estimated adult weight is 8 pounds.
  • Another standby method is to double the weight of a 4-month old puppy. For example, if a 4-month-old Maltipoo is 6 pounds, the estimated adult weight is 12 pounds.
  • PetMaltipoo’s guideline is to look at the weight of an 8-week-old pup. If it is under 2.5 pounds, multiply that by 4 and add .25. And if it is 2.5 pounds or more, multiply it by 4 and add 1. For example, the estimated adult weight of an 8-week-old Maltipoo puppy that’s 1.75 pounds is 7.25 pounds (1.75 x 4 + .25). And, the estimated adult weight of an 8-week-old Maltipoo puppy that’s 2.75 pounds is 12 pounds (2.75 x 4 + 1).

The average Maltipoo will weigh between 5 to 12 pounds, standing anywhere between 8 and 14 inches in height. Their final adult size is largely influenced by the parental poodle used in breeding; whether it was a toy or miniature variety.

Maltipoos can range in size from a diminutive 3 pounds and a mere 6 inch height (measured floor to withers) to a sturdy 20+ pounds and height upward of 14 inches.

Toy Maltipoo

A toy dog is a breed that weighs under ten pounds. Many maltipoos categorized as “teacup” should be classified as “toy.”

Miniature/Small Maltipoo:

There is some discrepancy with this term, as some breeders call it medium while others call it small. It is a classification for dogs weighing in a range between 10 to 25 pounds. This is a term that is used generally for heavier Maltipoo’s.

Many size terms breeders use, if often used as a marketing ploy, and should not bet taken too seriously.

Regardless of what term a breeder uses, your Maltipoo is a small dog and will most likely weigh less than 20 pounds once an adult. maltipoos weigh around 5 to 25 pounds and stand 6 to 14 inches tall from the withers, the highest part of a dog between the shoulder blades.

Mini Maltipoo

Mini Maltipoos weigh between 15 and 25 pounds and stand at 11-14 inches tall. This is the bigger version of a Maltipoo, which some breeders also call Medium Maltipoo.

Usually, Mini Maltipoos reach half their full-grown size at around 3.5-5 months old, and reach their adult size around 11-13 months old.

Toy Maltipoo

Maltipoo toy size is usually around 5-10 pounds and 6-11 inches from the withers. Toy Maltipoo usually reaches half of their full size at 3.5 months, and adult size at 7.5-11 months of age.

If yours is a first-generation Maltipoo, meaning the parents were a miniature or toy Poodle and a Maltese then you can expect him to be full grown at 8 to 10 months with a size of 8-14 inches tall. A second generation Maltipoo, that is, both mom, and dad are Maltipoos, might not stop growing until he is at least 15 months old.

Generally, you can expect an 8 week old Maltipoo to weigh about 1.5 to 3 pounds, again depending on the size and breed of mom and dad. At fully grown they are typically never more than 20 pounds.

The Maltipoo varies in size, depending on whether the Poodle parent was a Toy or Miniature. Generally, Maltipoos stand 8 to 14 inches tall and weigh 5 to 20 pounds.

For example, if your toy Maltipoo weighs 2.5 pounds at 4 months old, you can also expect him to weigh 4 pounds when he is 9 months old.

Your toy Maltipoo should finish growing before a year of age. On average, a toy Maltipoo can weigh between 5 and 10 pounds and stand between 6 and 11 inches tall when he is done growing, but there is a lot of variation in size with this breed.

Mini Maltipoo: Despite the name, a mini Maltipoo is actually larger than the toy counterpart. Following the Maltipoo size chart, a Maltipoo who weighs 5.5 pounds at 4 months old should weigh around 12 pounds at a year of age.

On average, an adult mini Maltipoo will weigh between 12 and 15 pounds and stand 11 to 14 inches tall, making them still smaller dogs, but bigger than the toy and teacup Maltipoo varieties.

But note, Since there can be a slight variance between the size of the Poodle parent, Maltipoos will, therefore, also vary in size. The average height for these dogs is between 8 to 14 inches tall, and their average weight is between 5 to 20 pounds.
