Ivermectin is a broad-spectrum anthelminthic (de-wormer) this is used for both external as well as internal worms. The advantage of treatment may outweigh any potential risk to the infant.
Ivermectin has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have revealed evidence of teratogenicity, but at doses that were also maternotoxic to the pregnant female. The manufacturer considers ivermectin contraindicated during pregnancy.

Goat often requires a higher dose of ivermectin as compared to sheep and cattle, sometimes twice as much. The reason is that the break down of anthelmintics in goats is much faster than sheep and cattle. Doubling the dose of ivermectin will not always increase the effectiveness of the drug. Some drugs may be toxic if the treatment is double if the animal is ill with the parasites. But if necessary, because of anthelminthic resistance, repeat the dose after 12 hours apart with macrocyclic lactone drugs as this will lengthen the time in the gastrointestinal tract when an effective treatment is present.

Stromectol should be used with extreme caution in CHILDREN weighing less than 33 pounds (15 kilograms); safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed. Do not use Stromectol if you are pregnant. If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor right away. Stromectol is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Stromectol, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
