Herbicides are chemicals that can be used to kill specific plants without harming surrounding vegetation. To create a selective herbicide, scientists have to understand the metabolic pathway of the plant, and which products are absolutely essential for its survival. The most successful herbicides work by mimicking one of these essential chemicals.

Tamar is a unique weedicide that works by inhibiting photosynthesis. It not only kills existing weeds but also prevents the emergence of weed seeds. Its broad-spectrum activity covers key grasses and broadleaf weeds. Tamar has both foliar and soil activity hence it is incompatible with most of the herbicides. This product has come out with a new identity where now the Indian growers can be re-assured with these latest technology herbicides coming up to them, which will hopefully help them to overcome their current issues in sugarcane cultivation.

Tamar is a new selective early post herbicide for sugarcane. It belongs to the s-triazines chemical group, which inhibits photosynthetic activity in broad-leafed weeds. Tamar also has both foliar and soil activity, killing existing weeds and preventing new growth from seeds. It is compatible with 2,4-D, protecting sugarcane from early slow growth of sugarcane tillers from weed competition. Tamar should be applied when sugarcane weeds are at 2-4 leaf stage. It provides longer duration of weed control.

Tamar Herbicide Description

Tamar Herbicide is a selective early post weedicide, which destroys the new emergence weed cuttings. It can also suppress weeds in sugarcane. Its mode of action is inhibiting photosynthesis and chlorophyll synthesis (resulting in decreased growth) and the breakdown and rupture of cell walls. Tamar Herbicide degrades quickly within 7 to 12 days and provides excellent broad-spectrum weed control.

Tamar is a preemergence herbicide. It prevents weeds from germinating and growing by interfering with their growth-regulating hormones. Tamar will prevent the emergence of susceptible weeds for at least 6 weeks and suppress broadleaf weed growth for 12 to 14 weeks, depending on soil conditions.

The pre-emergence Tamar is active on the weed seedlings when they first emerge. Pre-emergent herbicides are applied before a weed emerges, hence their name. These materials are restricted to use on labeled sites, such as ornamental plantings, turf areas and vegetable fields. These herbicides must not be applied to areas where edible crops will be planted.

Features of Tamar Herbicide

  • One of the best product for Sugarcane
  • Provides longer duration of weed control
  • Has both foliar and soil activity
  • Belongs to the s-triazines chemical group
  • Early post herbicide with broad spectrum activity

Mode of action of Tamar Herbicide

The herbicide Tamar kills weeds without damaging the crops. Farmers need to spray the herbicide on their field in early spring, just before the wheat is planted. The herbicide forms a chemical bond with the soil and stays there all season. When a weed germinates, it takes up the Tamar from the soil before it has any leaves, so it can’t make food and dies within three days. You don’t see any effect on the wheat or other crops since they are already too big to be affected by the small amount of herbicide.

Tamar is a new selective early post herbicide on Sugarcane which has broad spectrum activity on grasses and broad leaved weeds.
Tamar Herbicide is used as a pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide to control a wide variety of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in certain non-crop areas such as fallow farmland, rangeland, grass pastures, conservation reserve program (CRP) acres, fence rows and the non-irrigation portion of center pivot irrigation systems. Tamar XL uses the active ingredient Bensulide which has soil residual action. This means that it provides long lasting residual control. Most plant growth is inhibited within 24 hours after application.
